5 Easy Ways to Refresh Your Living Room
A living room is always a central part of a home. That’s where you spend most of your time with your family relaxing and that’s where your friends and other guests will be enjoying their time while visiting. That’s exactly the reason why you should consider updating and refreshing your living room a bit. You don’t have to go spend a fortune on some expensive furniture and accessories; there are much simpler ways of doing so. Let’s see what you can do.
Focus on your floor
No matter what type of flooring you have in your living room, it probably got dirty and worn out. This happens because you spend the most time in here and there is a lot of walking done. So, if you have a hardwood floor, you should probably refresh it with a fresh coat of paint. You can even choose a lighter colour in order to refresh the entire room. Also, don’t forget to throw out the old area rugs or carpets, because it’s time to provide some new colours and textures.
Display your memories
You probably have plenty of pictures of your friends and family and some souvenirs from all your trips. So, why not put them somewhere visible and show how proud you are. For all the family photos and great memories of your trips, birthdays, weddings and other memorable moments, you can create a gallery wall. Also, if you have some tickets and playbills of your favourite shows and concerts, arrange them all into a single frame and proudly hang them above your fireplace or sofa. As far as your souvenirs are concerned, you can easily make a few smaller shelves, fix them up on the wall of your choice and expose all those trinkets you got during your travels.
A fresh coat of paint
Paint is a decorator’s best friend. Not only can you apply it to the walls and transform the energy in your living room, but you can do something far more interesting. Instead of throwing out your old furniture, you can repaint it. For example, take your coffee table or chairs and dip their legs into a bright colour. This way, you are creating something unique, and refreshing the entire room with colour. Another idea is repainting your old dresser or even your coffee table. Possibilities are endless; you just have to find the colour you really like and that will fit perfectly into your living room’s decor.
Create a focal point
Pick something you like about your living room. It can be the fireplace, one of the walls or even a nook beside the window. All these can easily be turned into something more. If you choose your fireplace you can decorate the top of it with some pictures of your family, smaller statues or give it a bolder colour for character. Also, you can make one of the walls standout with the pictures we already mentioned or by painting it into a bold colour and hanging a great piece of art for an amazing accent wall. Lastly, you can pick some stylish rustic furniture like Rococo Decor has and make that cosy nook by the window even cosier.
Decorate with cushions
Last but not least, you will need some cushions. With them, you can do whatever you want, as long as the entire look isn’t too tacky. Find cushions made of natural materials and pick some fun patterns and colours. If it fits your living room’s style, you can go with floral patterns of different colours and sizes, just make sure to add one or two plain ones in a similar colour. Also, if the entire living room is more monochrome or minimalist, you can opt for cushions of different shades of grey, beige, or soft blue and purple. However, you can add one or two of them in stronger shades in order to create some contrast and character.
It is not that hard to give your living room a new atmosphere. And you don’t even have to spend that much money on it. As you can see, there are several easy ways of refreshing this room, and you’re going to love them!
